Blast In Srilanka Churches

In Sri Lanka on Sunday, there were bomb explosions in eight places including four churches and four hotels on Easter occasion. With 215 people, including 33 foreigners and include 4 Indians, were killed, 500 injured. The initial six blasts took place at around 8:45 at the same time. The other two blasts took place in Colombo between 2:00 P.M and 2:30 P.M.

 


The first explosion took place in St. Anthony Church, Kochikada, Colombo, after which there was a blast in the St Sebastian Church in Katuvupitia of Negombo and Church of Batticaloa. Apart from these, the five star hotels in Bangla, Shangri-La, Kingsbury and Cinnamon Grand also blasted. According to hospital sources, at least 45 people were killed in the blasts in Colombo. At the same time 90 people in Negombo church and 27 people died in Batticaloa.

 

National Hospital Director Anil Jayasinghe identified 12 out of 33 foreigners killed. These include 3 Indians, 2 Chinese, including Poland, Denmark, Japan, Pakistan, America, Morocco and Bangladesh each. Indian Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj identified the three dead as Laxmi, Narayan Chandra Shekhar and Ramesh.
