he police in Maharashtra's Thane district have arrested seven people for planning to hack a fixed deposit account of Tata Sons. The accused were arrested on Monday from a parking lot of a mall in Waliv while they were about to hack the account, police said.One of the accused, Tasleem Ansari, is an employee of Induslnd Bank and is said to have provided information about a dormant fixed deposit account of Tata Sons to the hackers.According to the police, the account that the hackers were targeting is from Chembur branch of Induslnd Bank.The accused were allegedly planning to withdraw Rs 150 crore from the account in three instalments and move the money to an account in Nagaland. Their contact in Nagaland was promised a commission for keeping the money safe, police said."The accused are in police custody. A fixed deposit account with balance of ?200 crore was their target. They were planning to withdraw Rs 150 crore from it," said Superintendent of Police (Palghar) Gaurav Singh.The police in Palghar were able to access chats of the accused planning the crime. When the group failed to find a professional hacker it decided to hack the account themselves based on inside information provided by a bank employee.The police have also recovered a bank statement of the account which was to be hacked.Police said the accused were planning to run a microfinance business with the money. They have been booked for cheating, dishonesty, attempting to commit offences punishable with imprisonment for life or other imprisonment
